Historic Homestake Opera House
Located at 313 West Main Street in Lead, South Dakota is one of Black Hill's beautifully restored fine arts centers. The craftsmanship and historic preservation is readily evident to everyone who enters. From its construction in 1914 until a catastrophic fire in 1984, the Opera House was the center of community life and lifelong education in Lead, South Dakota. The Historic Opera House Society is dedicated to its restoration, use, and preservation for future generations, in the belief that it is the cornerstone for the preservation, renewal, and development of our community. From daily tours to plays to concerts to an indoor pistol and shooting range beneath it, the Homestake Opera House has a lot to offer whether you are passing through on vacation or a local resident in the Lead/Deadwood area.
